Confiscating Guns In Deerfield Illinois

What is it that the left says? We don’t want to take your guns, we just want want common sense gun reform? Yeah, well here’s their example of “not wanting to take your guns.” In Deerfield, Illinois the village officials unanimously approved the ordinance, which prohibits the possession, manufacture or sale of a range of firearms, as well as “large-capacity” magazines. The residents there have until June 13 to turn in their guns. Or face up to $1,000 per day in fines.

They have a thorough list of the guns and types of guns that would fall under the ban, including (but not limited to) semiautomatic rifles, semiautomatic pistols, semiautomatic shotguns, and shotguns with revolving cylinders. Here’s a few models

  • AK, AKM, AKS, AK-47, ARM, MAK90, NHM 90, NHM 91, SA 85, SA 93, VEPR
  • AR 10
  • AR-15, Bushmaster XM15, Armalite M15, or Olympic Arms PCR
  • AR70
  • Calico Liberty
  • Dragunov SVD, Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU
  • Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FNC
  • Hi-Point Carbine
  • HK-91, HK-93, HK-94 or HK-PSG-1
  • Kel-Tec Sub Rifle

The Ordinance NO 0-18-06 lists them all

Guns Save Lives brought a lawsuit to the Village of Deerfield, Illinois, and now The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) are supporting them as well.

Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA-ILA said,

“Every law-abiding villager of Deerfield has the right to protect themselves, their homes, and their loved ones with the firearm that best suits their needs,”

John Boch, president of Guns Save Life said,

“We are going to fight this ordinance, which clearly violates our member’s constitutional rights, and with the help of the NRA I believe we can secure a victory for law-abiding gun owners in and around Deerfield,”

What Deerfield has done is an infringement of our civil liberties, and it should not be allowed to stand.
