New York and their crazy ideas to try to ban guns. They will go to all lengths to strip people of their Second Amendment. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and state Sen. Kevin Parker proposed legislation so that New York law enforcement officials could review gun buyers’ social media and internet search histories prior to purchases.
The proposed bill would:
- Authorize state and local law enforcement to review three years of social media history (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat)
- One year of internet search history
- Search engines include Google, Yahoo, and Bing
- Individuals requesting recertification also would be checked.
Today, @SenatorParker and I are announcing legislation to authorize the @NYSPolice and authorities like the @NYPD to conduct social media and internet search history reviews as part of the background check process for purchasing a gun. Our primary goal must be to #endgunviolence. pic.twitter.com/0IvlhHVRbJ

The lawmakers’ goal is to identify “hate speech” on social media. Who decides what is considered hate speech? So someones edgy style of comedy can prohibit them from purchasing a gun. Even though most of us agree that hate speech is disgusting and shouldn’t be said, yet it is still protected under the First Amendment.
It as also a violation of the Fourth Amendment. There’s no probable cause to justify looking into someones personal property. They are looking to undermine so many fundamental rights it’s not even fathomable. The left have no problem with this at all, do whatever it takes to rid law abiding citizens of their rights.
If this passes in New York, other liberal states will follow suit as well.
